Here's the story: I pulled my car in, the garage door shut behind me...normal so far, right? Well, that's when it happened, the soap/water dispenser that also indicates when you should stop pulling your car forward as well as what part of the wash cycle you're on malfunctioned. It never said "go" or "stop", just "thank you" (which is what it says at the END of the wash). Plus, I saw the cycle numbers go from 7 to 0 in about two seconds.
I was unruffled...I just figured the thing broke and I'd just have to pull forward to have the garage door open and I could start over. But, of course, it's never that easy! :)
I pulled my car forward and the garage door wouldn't open! I waited and waited and nothing happened. I didn't want to back up because I'd always heard that doing so would puncture my tires. And....I couldn't even get out of my car because the soap/water dispenser was positioned just perfectly as to block BOTH my front and rear doors from being able to open.
Lovely.
First, I try honking my horn. For a while. No one responds.
So, I called 411 - turns out there's no gas station listed in that town at that address. Lovely.
I call back with the name of the convenience store this time. They have that number. But, wouldn't you know it, the stupid store doesn't answer the phone! NICE.
So, finally, I call 911. I realize this wasn't a real emergency but I was out of options. The dispatcher was so nice: "Oh, sweetheart, don't you worry...we'll get you out of there in just a second. Don't you worry."
Really, I wasn't worried...I just didn't want to spend the night in the car wash.
Well, finally, the guy from the convenience store comes out...just pulls open the back garage door and tells me to back up (apparently backing up doesn't puncture tires....who knew?) and then he directs me on how to get the car wash to work...how to drive in, where to stop, etc. That's all very nice of him...but really, I've done this a million times and know how to do it. It's just that their machine malfunctioned.
But, the second time I got through with no problems and everything worked well. Woo hoo! Nice clean car!!!! :)
Saturday: I went snow-tubing with my small group. There were about seven of us (including my friend S from work). We had SO MUCH fun...tubing in Fraser and then going to BeauJo's in good old Idaho Springs for lunch. But, more than the tubing itself, it was a bit of a milestone for me - to invite S to a thing with my "church friends" was exciting and intense for me. I was a little freaked out about how he'd feel being around them (since he doesn't know Jesus at all) and I was a little freaked out that they'd be weird churchy people instead of "normal"! I know that's awful...but it's still real. My worlds collided and it was just a little strange for me, at first. But, it turned out to be wonderful. We all had a really great time - no one on either side was weird - and he thanked me for inviting him saying that he'd really enjoyed himself. So....hopefully, it's just the beginning. I so long for him to come to know Jesus. I pray that he sees something different about us that he longs to have/know too.
Here's a picture of me while I was being pulled up the tug rope:
