Two weeks ago, Discovering Community ended. (DC is my church's 10-week program that gives a foundation for who we are as a church and what we believe. I promise it's not nearly as dry as that description just made it sound. At any rate....all new small groups in our church are launched from Discovering Community.)
So, tonight, our new small group started. Most of the folks who came tonight were a part of DC with me and were even at my table at DC so I've gotten a chance to know them a bit already. But, wow...group was SO GREAT tonight!
First of all, Ron and Leslye did an absolutely PHENOMENOL job as our new small group leaders. They're just amazing and I'm so excited for them and to see the ways that they're really excited about leading this group and getting to pastor the people in the groupo. It's just so fantastic.
But, the entire group of people there tonight were spectacular too. All of them. I just can't believe that this group of near strangers (because, let's just be honest, 10 weeks sitting around a table in a church building eating dinner together, listening to our pastor talk and then answering the discussion questions that followed didn't really give much time to get to really know people) were so willing to be so honest and so vulnerable with each other. And, it was so exciting to see how easily the Holy Spirit was able to interact with people. He was speaking to so many and encouraging so many. Gosh....tonight was FUN!
And, believe it or not, I'm the self-appointed fun community coordinator. :) I'm going to plan fun things for us to go as a group - be it a potluck, a trip to the mountains to snow tube, a picnic, you name it....I'm so excited!
This is going to be great!
